Critique: NC:

I took advantage of the cloudy day today and went out shooting for a couple of hours. This little guy didn't seem to mind at all that I was just a few feet from him while shooting from my truck.

Pretty sweet shot for a coldish, overcast day.

You used a heck of a soft box. Nice detail on this little guy.

Thanks. God's soft box. My camera. Nice combo when I work it right.

Thanks, Bruce. If I'm going to shoot midday, I definitely prefer overcast skies.

I like overcast too, but today was a little too dark for my taste. Those clouds were pretty thick for a day when the weather person was promising "mostly sunny" as I left the house.

Funny thing was that, even though it was overcast, it was still pretty bright here. I kept expecting the sun to poke through, but it never did.

Thanks for the correction. I just realized what you were talking about. I knew it didn't look right when I typed it, and I'm surprised no one else caught it or said anything.

Very nice John! Good bird position and I like the almost monochrome look of the shot.

I thought maybe it was on purpose for the quote but wasn't sure. Makes more cents now.

Back to the bird, do they always hear hats like that or it is just for the winter? I don't think I've ever seen one of these. Pretty cool looking.

They always have the hat. They're down here fall, winter, and spring only, and prefer a particular environment. I didn't even know they were out there until I spotted one for this shot. First time seeing one.
