Hawk on a meal at BBSP - 01-08-2012, 11:32 AM

Critique: NC:

We watched this guy on some prey yesterday out at BBSP. I can't tell what he had, but it was big and he faught with it for quite a while. I watched him for about 45 minutes before I gave up on him taking off with his meal. He was pretty far away and low in the weeds; the fog was pretty heavy at times during the fight and the clouds kept interrupting the light...not great shooting conditions! Heavy crops.

Hopefully some of the others out there (David!) have a few shots they can share that show the action a bit better.

Good shots Patrick. After seeing these I don't know anymore. I am going to post some but I was thinking a small alligator. Now I wonder if he pulled it out of a turtle???

Great detail/stop action and series showing this magnificent birds behavior. Nice clear view in every shot, despite the heavy vegetation.
Well done!

I'm still at a loss for what it is. I keep going back and forth between a turtle or maybe some type of lizard/baby alligator...
