A little fun quiz
The eye is the window to the soul...
Can you ID these souls?
I'll add some hints later if needed, but I don't think you wildlife experts will need them. And, I'll post the answers in a few days.
Use these numbers in your answers (or guesses ).

What a great post!!! I'll not show my ignorance by guessing (as that's what most of mine would be),but really look forward to the answers!

Thanks, Leon. Some are really easy. I'll bet you know at least 4 or 5 without even thinking about it.
Here's the first clue...
There are 20 Birds, 1 Reptile (easy, easy!) and 3 mammals (2 of which are in the Rodentia Order)

Wow! Scott, thanks for playing. You know your critters! Great job.
All of the answers you posted are correct except for:
6. It's an adult female Oriole, but I don't think it's that one. I shot it down in south Texas at a ranch if that helps. The eye does look like an Orchard Oriole though. Maybe I identified it incorrectly? I'll post a photo of the whole bird and we'll see.
10. This one is the insect.
12. Not the VF, but a very common red bird in the Houston area. Sort of ratty looking.
17. Yep, it's a hawk, but not that one. I also shot this one down in south Texas.
20. In south Texas again. This one has the yellow bill.
21. This is a male juvi of a very common bird around here. The adult is striking with his red epaulet.
I'll go find that Oriole and be back...

Some clues on the ones Scott didn't answer:
1. Capistrano
2. S Texas again. This one isn't as pretty as the one in New Mexico/Arizona and Calif.
8. Coo
15. Rodent
16. The other "Who cooks for you?" bird.
19. Little, chubby S Texas Coo'er.

3. Cinnamon Teal

6. Why can't I think of a yellow-headed bird??? An oriole?
7. Laughing or Franklin's Gull
8. Dove...maybe WW Dove?

10. Bee
11. Mexican or 13-lined Ground Squirrel (can't tell from the eye)
12. Cardinal
13. looks like a Rabbit (but rabbits aren't rodents so that is throwing me off a bit??)
14. Greater Roadrunner
15. Cat
16. Dove (?)
17 Hawk...maybe Harris'?
18. ??
19..??
20. ??

Scott, Almost got them all this time. My clues were a little vague on purpose. Enough torture. Here are the answers - not sure about that Oriole though. I probably have that one wrong.
The Prairie dog is actually a Mexican Ground Squirrel. Most likely impossible to tell from an eye.
And I confused you on # 16. It is the other, other one. The barred owl is most known for that sound, but a White-winged Dove makes that sound too.
#2 is a Scaled Quail.
#20 is a Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Thanks again for playing!
The Key:
The RW Blackbird
The Cuckoo
The Scaled Quail
The White-winged Dove
The Harris Hawk
