My rig - 01-21-2012, 04:50 PM

Critique: NC:

Just for the heck of it, here's my rig that I'm currently using for birds:

7D w/grip
400 F5.6L w/LensCoat Realtree Max4 HD
Manfrotto 488RC0 ball head
Apex Mini Bean Bag - Realtree Max4

The rig goes onto a Manfrotto 190XB tripod when I feel like walking. I hope to replace the 400 with a 600 F4L at some point.

John
Nice Setup !!

Where did you get the bag and is that a regular tripod mount ?

I like this setup all I have is a spotting scope mount that mounts to the window.

Thanks, Gordon. The bag is from B&H (#APMBBRTM4), and the head is a regular mount. They don't make this model head anymore, but there are several good ones available.

Well, I like it so well that I just ordered the bean bag from B&H.
Thanks for the information.

That's great, Bill! I think you'll like it. Be sure to buy plenty of beans to fill it. I underestimated and had to make two trips to the store.

I wish my 400 had IS, but it doesn't look like Canon has any plans to make that happen. At least they haven't announced it.
