Texas Recluse - 01-21-2012, 07:19 PM

Critique: NC:

I found out that a photo I had taken a few weeks ago was of a recluse species that was not represented on the net or bugguide. I hadn't shot that many photos of it so I went back out today looking and found two more. It's a southern relative of the Regular old Brown Recluse.

and

Interestingly, the one I found in an area of red dirt/sand had a more reddish color than the one I found under a rock who had more of a brown color.

Nice photo Jason...I've been bitten twice by the recluse...first time on back of leg...second time on left ring finger...second time ended up in the hospital for four days...had to have surgery to remove all of the infected area down to the bone...had to follow up with plastic surgery to repair the finger...not a friendly little spider...

Spiders are awesome. Love #1!

Dang Ron, that sounds rough; sorry to hear that. My grandma was bitten on her leg and it was VERY nasty. I'm glad these were a long ways from the house :)
