Caracara and Kestrels - 01-22-2012, 06:22 PM

Critique: NC:

Given that the weather wasn't great this weekend with heavy overcast, I spent some time just driving some back roads to see what I could find. These were found just a couple of miles west of BBSP. C&C is always appreciated!

These last couple of shots aren't very good, but I haven't been able to get a decent shot of a kestrel in flight, so they'll have to do...

comment. my comment is that i am going to break into your house while you are at work tomorrow and steal that 500mm. the caracara shots are awesome. that is some focus tracking that i look forward to shortly. there is a mated pair that live at my neighborhood somewhere and hunt at our lakes. they had a roseate one day. they get really pissy when you are jogging and it happens to be close to their kill. one was ready to go toe to toe with sally.

Thanks Scott! I'll alert the neighborhood watch!

Thanks Ron! I've not done much shooting from my truck, but I think I'm going to do a lot more in the future.

Thanks Leon. I don't usually see many caracara's within range of my lens, but I got lucky with a small group of them this last weekend.
