Garner Park - 01-30-2012, 05:33 PM

Critique: CC:

Had a chance to go to Garner State Park today.

Photo 1. Is this a Phoebe. At first I didn't like this shot, but grew to like the background. What do you think about it.

Photo 2. Not sure what this guy wanted on the bottom side of this branch, but he spent quite a while there working for it.

I agree, do like the background colors. Do you use flash?

No flash on this. Just a lot of reflection and light colored grass in the background. Fill flash would have helped on the bird.

I think the background colors complement the bird's colors very nicely. The Phoebe could be a little lighter to bring out detail, and the OOF branch just behind the bird is a little distracting, but otherwise it is a fairly fine Phoebe photo!
If that Chickadee stayed on that branch for a while, there must have been something very interesting to it. Normally they don't stay put for long at all.
Nice work, Michael.

Thanks for the comments Sid. The lack of light on the bird is why I originally didn't care for the shot that much. But I seldom take a flash when hiking. A bit to cumbersome, and the pop up flash usually doesn't look right.
