Northern Flicker...Male?

This is an adult male.The female doesn't have the black near its beak where the male does.

This is the kind I saw last weekend. Stayed for a long time feeding on the ground. They would hop up on a branch for a photo op but, no camera. Very pretty bird.

Nice photo David...still trying to get photo of this bird...should have looked for one yesterday...was up in your neighborhood Wednesday and Thursday to attend a funeral...one of my Brother-in-laws Father passed away...his father also lived in Elkins Lake and my Brother-in-law's brother also lives just on the edge of Elkins Lake subdivision...has a hugh home on about 50 acres...
