Our 9-year-old Irish Setter, Prince, passed away recently. It was very unexpected and very hard to deal with. I'd like to share the last photo I took of him. He was very special and will be greatly missed.

So sorry about your dog - I know how hard that is. Our pets are such a part of our daily lives and they leave a huge void when they're gone. Aren't you glad you took that last shot?

How well you honor his memory. It takes time and grace for our hearts to heal from such hurts.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Carolyn... we had to have Boomer, our 14-year old dog, put down a few months ago and I still miss his greeting when I come home from work. The passage of time has helped, though, and I'll probably be ready to give another dog a good home before too long...

Carolyn, my heart goes out to you. I know how hard it was when Bala, our Border Collie and friend of 15 years passed away. Animals are the most fantastic creatures, they truly teach you the meaning of unconditional love. Thank your for sharing your picture with us.

Carolyn, please accept my condolences on your loss. It's tough to say goodbye to old friends. I can tell by your last photo that Prince had a good life and a great home for the time he was here.

May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.........

Thanks all for the comments. It really means a lot. He brought a smile to my face many a time. The sweetest thing about him was he was always concerned about me. When we went walking and he got ahead and I stopped to take a picture of something he would always come rushing back to make sure I was still coming. I'm glad he was part of my life and I will keep him in my memory on my daily walks with my three other special dogs, Cole, Dixie and Buttons.

My heart goes out to you.. we recently had to put down our nearly 14 year old gentle giant.. that was weeks ago, and I still miss him terribly.... sometimes at night, I swear I can hear him barking. :(

Howdy Carolyn,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, I will echo everyone else's sentiments about how they enrich our lives. I can't image being without our friends. He also was lucky, to have such a wonderful friend and companion.

I am sure he is waiting for you across the "Rainbow Bridge". and one day ya'll will take your Walks again.

Warmest Regards,

I am so sorry for your loss. What would we do without dogs in this world?

Sorry for your loss. Us cat lovers grieve too. My Honey Boy passed over two years ago and I still dream of him snuggled against me in bed at night. We have not replaced him yet and may never.
