(Not Very) Cute Alert: Older chicks - 04-15-2006, 07:34 PM

The older group of chicks is getting old enough they're not terribly cute any more, though it's still fun to watch them. They're starting to each take on their own markings, and develop some wings. I got there at breakfast time; they sure seem to enjoy this icky thick algea that's been growing!

Bill, These guys are at the "so ugly they're cute" stage. The feeding line is hilarious! How did you manage to get them with all heads down? Good timing!

Yeah, "so ugly they're cute" is about the only way to put it :-). I wish it was good timing, it was more good luck...

Yeah, this is that same first batch. They seem to be cute for a couple weeks, then "so ugly they're cute" describes them for a while, then they just get pretty downright ugly :-)

Howdy folks,

I'm new to this thread - just out of curiosity, what metering and focus modes are you using for these long shots?

Thanks!
