The Roseate Spoonbill babies are getting big and active in the High Island nests. They still have feathers on their heads and are a soft pink color, so they look a lot better than the parents!

Imitating Mom..

4 chicks in one nest - a very productive couple..

The wings aren't ready to support the large bodies..

How'd you like to have a spoonbill beak stuffed down your throat?? The things we do for our kids!!

Comments and critiques are always welcome!

Outstanding Don!

I guess I may have to plan another trip down south. Maybe the first of May.

Thanks, Jim! The shooting should continue to be very good for at least another 30 days as the babies grow and other species hatch. I look forward to seeing results from a return trip!

Great shots Don. I did not even know that these were hatching yet. Guess that I missed the boat. Time for another road trip over there.

Thanks, Tim! The spoonbills have only hatched in a few of the nests and there are lots of adults still sitting on eggs. There will still be plenty of shooting opportunities! I look forward to seeing the shots from your next trip.
