Well, since I just moved from the DC Metro suburban area just over a year ago, I would have to comment on the National Zoo. As of this moment, it is not quite up to FW in my opinion, but that is mostly due to many major renovations in various stages of completion, forcing them to house alot of animals in smaller,older enclosures until they finish. Once the Asian Trail is done, it promises to be incredible!

That said, the Amazon rainforest exhibit is great, you just walk right into a steamy, hot giant greenhouse where alot of the creatures are just roaming free. That and the free-rangeing Golden Tamarinds... if you have a big lens you can get good shot of them. And they just opened a new Kid's area with petting zoo.

So, if you are ever over to the east, GO! It will be worth it! And don't forget the pandas!
