I guess they're a little big for "critters" but I found these in Yellowstone and the Tetons. C&C more than welcome as I don't have a clue about shooting wildlife.

The color is great and they are nice and sharp. Love the deer - I am striving to get a good shot of a deer in velvet.

The only thing I would try to do differently (if possible - sometimes you don't have time to think about it with moving animals) is to try to frame the animal so that they have room in front of them so that the viewer can imagine where they are going. Hopefully that makes sense.

For example on the first one, more space to the right would have been better and just the opposite for the second one - more space to the left or the animal more to the right of the frame.

Patti

Thanks, Patti. I do have more room around the bison but I cropped to get rid of the other bison legs at the top of the frame. The deer was just a grab shot as we were driving thru and I was thrilled that I actually got one of him looking back at me.

Debbie, those are good, I have never been to Yellowstone, I would love to get a good Bison shot. Were these Bison running loose in the park?

Yes, Billy. They run loose. We saw a huge herd out in a field, but then ran across these near a creek and very close to the road. Thanks for the kind words.

Billy, I'll post more as I process them. I don't have many animal pics, but I have started posting the landscapes in that section of the forum.

Thanks, Therese. "Mock charged"? That does sound scary.

I think these are great shots, but I'm not a great photograher!
As I kid I remember a sceen like it with Bison and we where told to stay back. A photographer tried to get close though to get a shot (way before the days of zoom) and got chased big time-no mocked charge he was too close to her youngin. He fell once, but luckily got away without being hurt.

Thanks, Kay. I was using a 70-300 VR lens so I didn't have to get real close. Still, they were pretty impressive.

Yes they are very impressive. Neighbor had one on their land and I stopped the car since it was right next to the fence to get a close look. Back then I didn't have a digital camera and before I could get a picture she sold it. I don't know what range a 70-300 lens gets (17-55 is all I have right now), but I'm considering a 50-500 Bigma for wildlife shots around here since I don't like to get up close and personal with critters. Better run fore it gets dark to feed the coons and fox. Thanks for letting me know the lens you used.
