Cockrell Butterfly Center - 07-04-2005, 02:10 AM

Here are a few shots I took on July 3rd at the Cockrell butterfly center. Interestingly enough, there is a huge iguana living in there. The iguana was extremely friendly and I could get some good up close shots. Let me know what you guys think!! Critques are welcome, comments, etc. Thanks in advance.

I've never seen a white iguana.

I love #3. It would be nice if his form were sliiiightly less obscured, but it is still very cool. The fact that he is an unusual color almost makes him dinosaur-like. There is a neat "lurky" feeling to the photo.

Hey Jezebel!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, his head area was very white, I was surprised as well. His body was orange however and looked more iguana-like. Thanks for the comments!

I used the 50mm f/1.8 for all of these shots. I will get the settings when i get back home. All of them are posted on my pbase website, however. The exif info is there, but i'll put them up later tonight/tomorrow.

Thanks for looking and commenting!!!

Iguana. I was there one time and working my way up to the top level and exit. There were two people ahead of me and they were talking to one of the staff members of the butterfly center. They kept talking about someone, tossing off the adjectives him and he, and the staff member was yelling someone's name. I thought she was yelling down to someone on the bottom level. When they moved on, I moved to their landing and looked down. Then I really looked down and he was practically at my feet on the other side of the railing. I can tell you, I jumped. I'm not really a fan of reptiles, but I think I would have been ok if I had seen him from a distance and then approached. Looking down and seeing him at my feet was a shock. These pictures of him though are really wonderful.
