Love that Red-Winged Blackbird shot! That's some blue water!

All nice shots Steve. The one with the dragonfly/damselfly, I find the wavy green reed a bit distracting.

When I lived in Sinton a friend of mine had some land up there before they made Choke and we use to hunt and bass fish in his stock tanks…it’s a great place for wildlife even back then. Nice series of photos!

Thanks Therese, Tony, and Jim for the comments.

Tony, actually, that reed is the main subject all the rest, even though in focus, are just extras. But, I wasnt sure if I liked that one enough to post, it just seemed interesting to me.

Steve,
Any deer worth talking about? Choke used to be such a great place for whitetail. I haven't been there for 2-3 years.

WOW, thanks Daniel. I think it is a different perspective that is unique. I did take a couple of shots with only the d-fly and the two reeds and for some reason it didnt work. maybe if I could get the d-fly to move to another spot and smile then it would work. LOL!

Well Randy, as of the end of last year and the first of this year there were several white tail bucks 10 points or better high and wide and just as gentle as can be. I havent talked to the game warden this year about how many, if any, were culled. I know they have program to keep them in check but dont know more then that as of now. Poaching is a major problem and I know that the game wardens that live there catches people every year trying to take them illegally.

The white tails have started growing antlers but it will be a while before I know what is out there. When they do finish antler growth I will post shots of them and give you an idea of what is out there so you can plan a trip this season.

Thanks for the whitetail update, Steve. We worked with Operation Game Thief a few years ago to ID some poached bucks with our photos, but with the enforcement of the feeding ban and some personnel changes at the park it really deteriorated after that.
Nice redwing and egret shots, by the way. I forget sometimes there are birds there too.
Thanks,
