misc flower in a pano type crop - 07-17-2008, 05:30 PM

I think the title about sums it up nicely...

The background is too busy for it to be better than just decent... but I did like the leaf shooting off to the right to kinda balance the comp.

I'm not so sure about that leaf shooting to the right hand side.
Being a "Macro Nut' I'd like to see these pretty flowers up a tad closer.

Here's the best I can do with this image...

of course, this would be about a 3"x1" print at 300ppi : 0

I like the idea of the panoramic, but the balance is just very difficult to make work. I've been playing with it for quite awhile but just can't seem to find a balance with what we have in the 1st post. I think a rather radical balance is probably a possible solution.

could you post the original uncropped version to let me play with it a bit more?

thanx

Here ya go Ken...

I went with the elongated pano on the original since I didn't like the brown on the stalk below the flower... and...

this was a toughie....after a few minutes of playing i wound up with this. I'm still not getting the "aHah" that I want...but i've left that right leaf in place because I think it is part of the story. Yeah, it is an odd balance but sometimes that works better than a traditional attempt.

not necessarily better, just food for thought.

and just for grins, I tried a 4x6 vertical/portrait crop. It's a lot more traditional, but hey, it's something different and sometimes different is all it needs. More than once I've taken a horizontal that made sense at the time and wound up doing this, or vis-versa.

it only starts with the camera....
