Very sad story in the Chronicle:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/6051372.html

In case the link doesn't work, Gary and Kathy Clark visited the NWR. Gary described some of the devastation and Kathy took a photo of the visitor center.

From the article: "I saw visitor facilities that were practically demolished, vegetation left dead or dying, freshwater marshes made almost lifeless by saltwater, and birds and other wildlife either dead or barely hanging on."

There was a fantastic natural plant garden near the visitor center where I loved to hunt down bugs and take flower photos. It is gone.

I know it will all come back, but it will take time.

Patti

Wow, sad indeed. Yes, it's all part of nature's plan so it will be back to good soon. Thanks for posting Patti.

I made a delivery to Anahuac yesterday and the whole area including the residents is devastated. I was on Eagle road all the way down there and the storm surge got to at least 15 to 20 foot high. Maybe even more. I didn't know Round Bales could float. Now I do.

Check out this home. many look like this one.

A real bummer. Thanks for posting the link Patti, it is a very detailed report on the condition of Anahuac. And thanks Sandy for posting the picture, it really puts it in perspective.
