Japanese Gardens - 10-30-2008, 03:24 PM

I made it out to the Japanese garden this week (my first time out there). As Tom (Captain Tom) and Janice (J Eddington) noted (see thread: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=86457), the leaves have not made the color change yet (there was one Japanese maple that was showing off). I did get several shot (and still working on the others) that I liked - the water pipe one was inspired by Janice's' shot of the same thing (not an easy capture - lots of tossed images). All C&C is welcomed - thanks for looking. I plan on returning in a couple of weeks to catch the fall colors.

I looked around for the UFOs but I guess they only reveal themselves for those they deem suitable.

Very nice captures John!

I haven't got all mine processed yet from last weekend yet. I need to go back when the colors change more.

Great pictures. Half second HH is amazing for the mini waterfall. You've got the flowing water effect perfectly.

Thank you every one.

Milind, the HH the half second exposure was done with the assistance of holding the camera against a solid object (there is no way I could stand still for that time). The Gardens have a rule against tripods, so you have to adjust/cope.

Therese, for the second image I processed it through a pastels filter to soften it up a bit, and bumped up the saturation a little.

Nice. I've got a senior session this Saturday there and I'm looking forward to it. Although, I'm not looking forward to all the driving... Frisco to Keller... shoot... Keller to McKinney... shoot... McKinney to Ft. Worth... shoot... back to Frisco... drink heavily. :)

Thanks Wil and Angel. Wil, I do not envy your travel plans - lots of time in the car.

Outstanding John! The fall color is making me squirm…can’t wait until we get some down here in sub-tropical southeast Texas.

John, your pictures motivated me to go back, thanks - 11-08-2008, 10:47 PM

Visited the Fort Worth Japanese gardens to see if the colors had improved over the days. Managed to get pictures of the waterfall (handheld) and the water dripping out of the bamboo pipe. Besides there was this huge Heron that swooped down on a fish, gobbled it whole and then stood contentedly as we all watched and took pictures.
