Aransas National Wildlife Refuge boat tour - 01-06-2009, 06:38 PM

Thanks for all the advice on the boat tour, we ended up going on the Skimmer, mostly because I had 2 non photographers along and we were staying 2 hours from the boat so we couldn't make the early tour. But it was a good time I would recommend them and images are ok considering the time of day.

Wonderful set! I love these birds ever since I visited them in November of 2007. I really want to get back down there. The overcast skies probably helped you with the whites. Number 1 is very nice. Good, strong eye contact with good exposure. Number 2 is good because you caught a nice wing spread. And finally, who wouldn't like two flying in tandem!?!

What a huge crane! I wonder if they are related to the Sand Hills? I saw a bunch of Sand Hills down in Bay City yesterday. No, I didn't have my camera with me but I do today if I get down that way.
I wish the Whooping Cranes would show up in Galveston County. I know they go to the same spot every year it seems.

Great job on these Gary! Three great shots! The flight shot in tandem is just awesome - perfect composition, exposure, DOF. Really great.
