Lights in the sky

This is a discussion on Lights in the sky within the Nature and Wildlife forums, part of the Showcase category; Very interesting second shot. I was thinking you used a telescope for the Nebula....

Well crap... I saw the cloud bank coming in from the west but I didn't think it would get here that fast. I was going to shoot Orion with the 85 f1.2. I think I could have gotten the entire constellation in the frame... bummer...

Technically I won a small piece of that thing

Shooting the sky has it's perks... A year or two ago I was composing a wide angle shot of the eastern sky. A "satellite" entered from the east almost mid-frame. I watched it pass through the frame (didn't want a streak in the image) and it made a hard 90 degree jog and then another 90 degree jog to put itself back on a westerly track either that or my eyes wiggled when I wasn't looking... Never did figure out what that was about but I sure wish I had tripped the shutter just before it did...

I heard someone say that on Monday at 10:43pm there is going to be some event in the sky....something about it having a green glow, anybody else hear about it?

Probably the near earth asteroid that's supposed to pass within 1,000,000 miles of earth. Supposedly visible with a small telescope.
