Crazy Green Herons, I just love these guys and
soooooooo look forward to their return to the area.
Images may be a bit large, but file sizes are withi reason

all 400mm w/1.4X, typically ISO 400, 1/320 @ f/8-11

Very nice Dave as all your shots are.. #3 is my favorite but #4 made me laugh. When I first looked at #2 I didn't scroll down enough and only saw the part above the branch.

As many times I saw these guys last year I didn't know they had such a long neck.
I hope to capture some of these guys tomorrow at BBSP.

Excellent series Dave, unique 'poses' and all are sharp. You need to send that guy this way - I've yet to get a nice Green Heron shot. Interesting group of photos.

Nice Dave!! They are definitely the clowns of the Heron world. Never a dull moment when they are "on the prowl" (Well sometimes when they "freeze" for several moments before the strike, it can get trying)-Like the last one best.
Cameron Prairie used to be loaded with these guys, but they haven't quite recovered from the latest storms yet.
