Birds in flight settings - 05-09-2009, 09:19 PM

I have problems with shooting birds in flight. I have been shooting at ISO 200 and think that is where my problem is. Would it be better to crank up the ISO a bit and use a faster shutter speed? I am using a 40D and 100-400L.

Looks like you didn’t get much help here.

Here are a few suggestions of settings that have worked for me.

1. Use center AF point only
2. Use a high enough ISO to get a shutter speed between 1/1000 sec and 1/2000 sec.
3. Use Ai-Servo focusing mode
4. Set your AF limiter to the distance setting. I think it is something like 8m – infinity.

I hope this helps,

Greg
