The Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883 which took 13 years to complete. It is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Spanning nearly 1600 feet across the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge was the longest suspension bridge until 1903.
I have always wanted to see the bridge in person since I've seen it so many time on post cards, tv shows, movies etc. So while staying on the island I knew I just had to walk across it. I believe its about a mile walk over the bridge and it is something I would definitely recommend to anyone! There is so much history there its just an amazing feeling to soak it all in...

There were a few steel eyes that stuck out of the structure and every single one of them had padlocks attached to them left by visitors. Many of the locks had dates, names, places they were from etc. They're in fact called
Love Locks, couples afix them to the structure and toss the key into the river. Pretty cool in my book.
