Exif data on the first post shows that the photos were taken with a D90 using a 35mm lens. There are some great pics using this lens!

I love this section of the board. Every time I that I start trying to blame my lenses on my lousy photos, I go on here and check out the photos taken with the lens that produced said lousy photos. It inspires me to do a little research and find out what I'm really doing wrong.

The downside is that I'll probably never be able to justify to my wife purchasing the 24-70 F2.8 that I covet.

I've got many pictures with this lens on Flickr stream but here is one that shows decent sharpness at 1.8..at least to me. I don't have any high end lenses but I have seen plenty of pics and realize that this is not quite as sharp but I would not consider mine soft.

Focal point is her left eye (camera right):

and a 100% crop of the eye area:

Here's one at 2.2 This was self-portrait from a tripod so I'm not entirely sure exactly where the camera focused in the end but my eyes seem a bit soft. Hope the sizes of these pics are OK.. I'm posting large for detail.

BTW, one thing I have experienced is kind of a smeary looking bokeh that is not really pleasing when there are really vibrant colors in the background. If I can remember I'll try to post a sample later when I'm at home. Other than this phenomenon with very vibrant colors I've been OK with the bokeh.
