I didn't have the 10% off coupon though. Maybe I should try to redeem in store?

Ok, I've had mine awhile, but I've not been out much. At cousin's home, her daughter has a Barbie collection. One single light bulb (natural cfl) other side of the room. Tripod, F/22, 3 seconds, @ 10 inches. Nikon D90, 35mm (1.8) lens.

Here is a natural light self portrait I took yesterday using the 35mm 1.8 dx lens on my D300.

I had light from my living room window at camera left, and a large reflector for fill at camera right. I wanted really shallow DOF, so I was shooting at f/1.8. Kinda made it tough to get the focus point where I wanted it...

Fortunately I got my lens a while back - before all the quake related supply problems and price hikes.

I just sold mine 10 days ago to fund the purchase of D7000. I liked it a lot, but it's both G and DX lens and I also shoot film with F3, so it had to go. A nice 35/1.4 AI-S took its place...

This shot was taken in our bedroom, our son was bouncing on the bed and when he took a 2 second break I managed to grab the shot. It's jut standard overexposure with just a bit of contrast and blacks pulled up in LR. Behind him was a white wall, he was wearing a white shirt, two windows behind my back and on each side.

f/2.5, 1/40s, ISO1600 on D90

I have an opportunity to buy one of these used. Is this just lens hoarding or do you think it makes sense?
I wonder how this lens would be as a portrait lens. I have a 50mm 1.8.

this answers my question. It is nice for a portrait lens...I don't see any distortion.

I ordered mine from Dell for $199 back in March or April, and after changing delivery dates several times, they cancelled the order. At the time, anyone who had it in stock wanted much more, so I forgot about it. I bought it a week ago from Amazon for $199.95.
