Nikon 35mm 1.8 DX - at last! - 07-18-2009, 01:39 AM

Just got mine today - Here are a few samples...
one original (downsized) and one 100% crop.

I love this lens, its probably going to stick on my d40 till I die or upgrade, whichever comes first!

seriously, for a hobbyist on a budget, this lens is hard to beat.

btw- no adjustments at all, just downsampled/cropped.

Because after the upgrade, vBulletin decided that it got sick of you so it won't show that to you j/k. I think Abel is working on that. His server is definitely faster now, just a few hiccups that need adjusted.

Got mine in today, here are a couple of examples - 09-16-2009, 11:06 PM

Just got my copy of this lens today and thought I would share a few shots I took of my pups...these are all straight off the camera, no editing other than sizing for web. Enjoy!

Why is the 35mm f/2.0 more expensive than the 1.8?

I haven't held the 1.8 but i bet the build quality is lower. The f/2 is in the same zone build quality wise as the 50 1.4, i'm guessing the 1.8 is built like the 50 1.8.

I've had this lens since it was released, pre-ordered it when I first found out about it for $199 it was worth a try... anyways back to your question the 35mm f/2.0 is more expensive as it works on both DX, FX, and film bodies where as the 35mm f/1.8 only works on DX and FX in DX crop mode.

The 35mm f/1.8G is similar to the 50mm f/1.4G version and the 35mm f/2.0 is similar the the 50mm f/1.4D in my opinion as I've had each one at one time or another.
