I've had this lens since it was released, pre-ordered it when I first found out about it for $199 it was worth a try... anyways back to your question the 35mm f/2.0 is more expensive as it works on both DX, FX, and film bodies where as the 35mm f/1.8 only works on DX and FX in DX crop mode.

The 35mm f/1.8G is similar to the 50mm f/1.4G version and the 35mm f/2.0 is similar the the 50mm f/1.4D in my opinion as I've had each one at one time or another.
