24-120mm VR f/3.5-5.6
Ok, by some accounts a dog of a lens, so bad that even Ken Rockwell damns it to perdition. However, I have taken some really sharp photos with this lens on my D2X. Is it a dog or is it just not great? Opinions Please.

I'm interested to know the opinions of actual users as well because I'm looking for a replacement walk around for my 18-105VR

Love, hate. Sometimes it is great, other times it is horrible.

It is my go to lens. I use this lens for 80% of all the work I do. I upgraded from the non VR version.

I used this lens to shoot my niece's wedding (I'm not a pro but she "forced" me to shoot it even though I offered to pay for a photog). Fired off over 400 shots and, even as a non pro, shots were very good. I really like this lens. | | | |

I have had three different 24-120 VR lenses, the first was great but I sold when I got my 17-55 f2.8. The second lens had problems with the right side of the image being soft, while the left side was sharp, real problem when photographing two people side by side. My third lens was another really great lens, I sold it to go to the 24-85 f2.8-4 which I do truly love, I even sold my 24-70 f2.8 because it was not being used.
Yes the 24-120 VR can be really wonderful if you do not get a bad one.
