Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF DX - 07-22-2008, 09:53 PM

Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF DX

Taken at Bosque Del Apache, sun-up, about 18 degree out. Tripod used (hands were shaking).

This lens supplanted the Nikon 17-35mm and comparisons between the two lenses still rage on as to which is better. Nevermind though as both are exceptional.

Example:

Nikon D100 : @55mm : 1/125th : f8 : 100 ISO : Matrix metering

First off yes I'm still alive...

Secondly, this lens stays on my D200 body all the time and I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many truly amazing photos taken with it. I chose this one to show you what you can do with this guy though.

Nikon D200 : @31mm : 1/6th handheld : f11 : 200 ISO

Gotta love wide angle if you're steady...

New favorite though is my D300 and the Nikkor 85 1.8

It's been a while. Hopefully you're all doing as wonderful as we are!!!

Just took delivery of this lens today. Still waiting on my D300 from UPS.

Coming from Canon, I hope it's as good or better than my 40D and 17-55mm IS.

Excellent workhorse lens. I use it for everything from architecture to portraits to landscape. It is NOT cheap, though.

Nikon D2X
Aperture: probably f8
shutter speed: 1/0.4
ISO: 100
Focal Length: 17mm (25mm with sensor crop)

It's not a no brainer lens but it sure gives great color and tone. The only issue I have with it is that I've moved to FX so it's doing nothing right now.
