Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G ED AF DX Fisheye - 07-22-2008, 10:58 PM

Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G ED AF DX Fisheye

Taken at Phoenix International Raceway

Nikon's fisheye lens is a joy to use. It's small and lets in a lot more light than its f/2.8 aperture would suggest. Perfect for getting big images out of small areas. This lens deserves a place in your bag.

While not as versatile on the FX bodies, it still creates unusual images that people are drawn to. Also, you'll notice strong CA at the corners (can be fixed using Nikon Capture software). When using the fisheye, you might consider shooting RAW as there's so much to each image, you'll want to edit different parts individually.

Example:

Nikon D40x : @10.5mm : 1/200th : f4 : 100 ISO : Matrix metering

I don't use it a lot, but I never go anywhere without it.

I like the fisheye and wide angle look from this lens. This photo has been cropped just a bit.

I normally don't care for portraits with a fisheye, but here's an example.

There's something fishy about the dance floor. With appropriate cropping, the camera-on-the-floor trick:

Nice photos! I've got one as well, but I dropped it and cracked the front element...I'll take a photo one of these days..but it still works 100% and doesn't affect the performance at all...
