like Murph said yes it is?
What lenses do you have for wedding right now?
Do you have a 50 f/1.4?

I actually do have the 50 f/1.4, however I barely use it. I actually like zoom lenses so that's one of the reasons I barely use it. I Plan to incorporate it more into my weddings. Right now I am trying to get the Nikon 17-55 2.8.

I would like to note that this lens is very functional in the sporting arena also. It has become my go to lens for shooting volleyball and basketball. Below are some examples of shots I have been able to capture with the Nikkor 85mm f1.8.

#1 - Manual Mode, Iso 2500, Aperture f2.8, Exposure 1/800, Nikon D700

#2 - Manual Mode, Iso 2500, Aperture f2.8, Exposure 1/1000, Nikon D700

#3 - Manual Mode, Iso 1250, Aperture f2.2, Exposure 1/2000, Nikon D700

#4 - Manual Mode, Iso 1250, Aperture f2.2, Exposure 1/1600, Nikon D700

As I continue to try to expand my gear, I appreciate all the information people have posted so I can make a decision which is right for me.

The 85mm F1.8 AFD is so underrated. I am getting another one to replace one that I sold.

Are you talking about the 1.4 D or the 1.4G?

Beautiful pictures !!! Where would you recommend to buy a prime lense like this one for a good deal? I have a 50mm 1.4 ( got it off of Ebay) but would like to purchase an 85mm 1.8 (preferrably 1.4) for great close up shots. Love the clarity and sharpness!!!
