if this is the VR 55-200, i've barrowed it for some shooting at H2R race track in San Marcos and it does great in good bright light.

the VR version will improve alot but i think if you got a tripod, it will be the same or better quality.

Decent, except for the plastic lens mount. Photozone says that the new VR version is made better because it is a single tube rather than a tube within a tube as in the non VR. I tried one. Target was selling the non VR version for $100 but I returned it. I don't want a variable aperture zoom and I was scared that I would break the lens mount.
