From all reports this is one of those rare lenses which preforms far in excess of what the numbers say. That is, this is more than just 200mm, and an extra F/stop.

There is a quality to the images which is hard to define. Hard to describe.

But it is clear to the eye.

Worth it? Heck, I have 10-dollar items which are not "worth it," and I have stuff which costs well into six figures which is definitely worth it.

If it does the job, and you need it, and nothing else does -- sure, it's worth it.

Or, if it makes you happy!

Also It does really well as a 400 f/4 with a 2x tc
I have a mint condition used one for ya. Just bring out the cash. The lens weighs a ton, too much for me to carry around all day long. See my ad in the seller forum.

This is the best lens I have ever owned. It makes me happy, it makes my customers happy. It has a look. The 70-200 is great but not in the class of this lens. Absolutely beautiful sharpness and the creamiest bokeh ever.

It is heavy. No getting around that. But it produces the prettiest headshots of any lens I've ever used. The perspective is perfect.

If you find one at a reasonable price, you won't make a better investment in the quality of your photographs.
