The battery in my MB Pro died after only about 24 cycles and 18 months of use. Got it replaced at the AS in Southlake free of charge. Without AC, I would have had to pay $99. Nice having the reassurance for other possible problems as well.

When my ibook battery died after just over a year, and I had applecare, not only did they refuse to replace it, but when I filed a complaint with the BBB they flat lied and said batteries were excluded from warranty coverage in the warranty docs, sent the BBB a "doctored" copy of the warranty which stated batteries were excluded, then I sent in a copy of the original warranty docs, then they said "well it was updated on the website and we can change the terms any time we want, so it is no longer covered". I sold the ibook, refused to purchase any more apple computers, sold all the macs I had except for one I use to check TV listings in the living room. Never again.

After having to take my MBP in 5 different times (2 times for the same thing) they gave me a brand new machine...with a bigger hard drive :) Happy me!

Yes, Applecare is totally worth every dime.

5 times! yikes, I'd be so pissed off by then. I should go get that AppleCare ASAP.

John, how do you tell the cycle times? Is that just an estimate or is there something you can pull up to find out?

It's under Power | Battery Information in the System Profiler.
