Well, the news was not what we were hoping it to be when I posted last week:

The tumor is, in fact, malignant, but the vet says it is a slow growing cancer. They think they got it all, but the margins are irregular, so there's no way to know for sure. At nearly 15, they are not recommending chemo and, frankly, I don't think I could put him through that at his age. So, we're on track to getting him over the surgery and will monitor him closely for any new lumps or bumps. For a dog his size...and one that was a rescue from an abusive situation when we got him, he's had a long and happy life and we'll try to make whatever is left of it as good as it can be. He's the best (oh, now I'm making myself cry).....
