various tech blogs are all posting "rumors" that a new one is out this summer to coincide with the firmware upgrade. Nobody is going to admit to anything right now. Doesn't matter if it's Steve Jobs, nobody is going to know outside of those that know at Apple until it becomes public let alone a phone rep. No store employee etc is going to know anything.

yeah, been hearing talks of the 4G network, but since there's no real coverage yet there's nothing utilizing it etc.

I have a Speck pixelskin cover/ condom. It is soft rubber with a good grip. I am not so much concerned about it surviving a fall from my hands as a slip from my pocket, so a rubbery slip cover was just right for me. Joe's comment was apt, any sort of case does add a considerable amount of bulk to an already bulky phone.

The PixelSkin case is very similar to the Oakley case that I'm testing right now.

I don't consider the iPhone 3G to be bulky or a "brick." It's no bigger than the Blackberries that I was looking at during the decision-making process. Of course, compared to regular cell phones it's big.

expect a the new iphone to be debuted june 8th at the WDCC keynote address. Rollout is rumored to begin Friday, July 17th. as for specs? 32gig option, 400mHz processor, 256Mb ram, built in compass, 3.2Mp camera. Just a hardware change, no form factor change is expected. the Iphone 3.0 OS is expected to be rolled out the same day as well. Pricing expected to remain the same at $199 and $299, for the 16gig and 32gig respectively.

The best "Quality" cases are made by Sena. Many different styles and colors.

most of that is what i've been reading as well, also an OLED screen (but that was also a rumor on the 3G for a while), a glowing apple (wtf), some sort of rubber like backing, and possibly even removal of the metal band around the screen. Again, it's all rumors until anything happens though.

I have the iFrogz screen protector and the Macally Metro snap on cover. The Metro is fairly thin so it doesn't add too much bulk.

I have the one by Contour, the HardSkin
http://retail.contourdesign.com/?/products/64

I've put my 3G through the paces and it's held up fine. Including a 3 foot drop from my SUV to the driveway at least 2 times.

So far, perfect.

Absolutely! Get a protective cover, a moderately good one, to protect!

I'm using a SwitchEasy Rebel hybrid case - part hard plastic and part rubber - great protection on the edges/corners and shocks too. I have the Skeleton (B&W) one, the wife has the pink&magenta one. We are gonna buy the new 5 color set to swap out our hard parts every once in awhile:

I have one very similar to this that I decided to go back to. The Oakley case is just to bulky for me even though it does offer great protection.

I don't have an iphone and it's probably better that I don't know what I'm missing out on. I better not look at this thread again...

Roy - it will change your life.

Seriously.

I had to have my brakes fixed.... looked up brakes in the map app, and presto - got me where I needed to go.

Get me from home to a shoot location? Presto...

Need to run a clients credit card? Presto, got an app for that...

Sitting in carpool line .... playing word games... and surfing Facebook... and... playing Scramble (word game!)... lol.

It's awesome!
