I just got an iphone this week. Got the clear hard shell case that covers it completely. Like it, keeps my keys and stuff from scratching it.

I have a Seidio combo case. http://www.seidioonline.com/category-s/2361.htm It is secure. I had a similar case on my BlackBerry.

I also have the Invisible Shield on the face of my iPhone.

I have this ifrogz thing that my husband got for me - I tried the all clear one that you could 'touch' through - but it was cheap, and crappy, so I switched back to this one. I like the rubberized grip on it, and I keep a clear screen cover on it that I change out every once in a while.

Yesterday, I picked up an Oakley iPhone case. It's rubbery, tough, and offers very good protection. However, it adds a little more bulk than my previous case. I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep it; that's why I'm wondering what others are using. I like Andy's with the belt clip.

I've tried a couple of different ones and I'm not really happy with any, but some are better than others. in a lot of cases they add a lot of extra bulk to the phone.

There are plenty of leather cases with clips that you can slide your phone into on your hip, however they won't protect your phone from a drop. There is things like the invisible shield that will protect from scratches and such in your pocket and still look "clean" but again no protection from a drop etc.

And now pretty heavy rumors are dropping about a new phone this July, which really isn't unexpected. It's been 2 years since the first phone, and a year since 3g. With the addition of the 3.0 software it's not outside the realm of possibility that a new phone would come out. They're going to want to convince people who didn't upgrade the first time to upgrade this time so that they can lock them into another 2 year deal. If half the rumors of the new phone are true, I'll probably upgrade to it lo.

did they ever come out with a case for the 3G? I know they had one for the original. There was a company that made something called an Otter case that was similar to the Oakley one as well iirc.

Ugh. Why would you make that brick even thicker?

I've never put any sort of protective covering on mine and I beat it up pretty well. The back is fairly scratched (although not obvious) but the front is still pristine.

I gotta say, they did a great job on the screen quality. I couldn't scratch that thing if I tried. I've dropped it about a dozen times now and still no visible dents, cracks or deep gouges. It's a great phone!!

So I wouldn't put anything on it. It'll take what you throw at it and you'll replace it before it wears out on you.

Insider information there is now a 4G network available - it's limited coverage - but like any other technology worth a darn will expand fairly fast.

This is what I got:
1. To give a better grip and protection for the iPhone:
Griffin Technology - Elan Form Case with EasyDock for Apple® iPhone 3G - Black
2. To hook it to my belt. I don't like putting the iPhone in my pocket together with keys and change. ;)
HTC - Leather Pouch for Select Cell Phones - Black

Love the combination, couldn't be happier.

My favorite cases so far have been from www.otterbox.com. I've had one for an iPod, Blackberry and will get one for an iPhone when I get an iPhone! The level of protection varies among the models, but the one for my iPod is completely water-sealed when used with waterproof headphones. Excellent customer service from them, too.

I have the clear Agent 18 plastic case and its worthless. Think of how they design cars to collapse in a wreck? okay cool, now think of how that would apply to an iPhone case... It doesn't go well.

I dropped it from a few feet up and the case exploded off of the phone and let the phone bounce around and hit the ground all over again... quality.

Talked to phone rep the other night, the July rumor is just a 3.0 upgrade for download. Supposedly no new phone till the release of the 4G version about a year out.

I don't use a case. Perhaps I should - I shattered my first iPhone after about three [NOT consecutive] drops from hip height onto concrete.

I'm not about to go without some sort of protection for my phone. The thing cost me over $200, tax included.

I go unprotected as well. Used to have a screen cover, don't even have that anymore.
