do you have an older child with seizures? Like the big daddies...?? Where the lips turn blue, and those kinds of good things?

Apparently our child has decided he may have them more frequently and the medicine isn't going to help...he used to have them in the morning. He's thinking that maybe after 9 is a better time. (yes this is sarcasm, I know my little sweetie doesn't have them on purpose!!!) Since he sleeps upstairs and us down, I'm trying to decide if a baby monitor is enough to warn us of these wonderful scare tactics...

What do you do?? BTW, he also has a heart issue, so we definitely need to monitor these through out the night...

My daughter, who will be 17 next week, has seizures, but not the grand mal type. We're lucky, hers are completely controlled on medication.

Check with your neurologist . .. a change in when they occur might be an indicator of something. Also, we didn't completely control my daughter's seizures until we starting splitting her medication, half in the morning, half after dinner. Does he have any kind of aura before the seizure that you would know about via the baby monitor? (for example, my daughter used to have a very specific cry, that I would only hear when a seizure was impending, as she got older, she talked about her brain shaking when one was about to happen). Or does he make noise when he has them, or enough that you think you'd hear it?

I feel for you, I know how stressful it can be. {{hugs}}

One other thing, in case you're not already aware of it . .. The Epilepsy Foundation in Houston operates 2 camps for kids with seizures. One for younger kids (8-14), one for teenagers (15-19). This will be my daughter's 6th year, and I can't say enough good things about them. The camps are free as well, supported by donations, and at every camp there is a neurologist, and 4-5 nurses who all donate their time. It is, by far, one of the BEST weeks of my daughter's year, every year. PM me if you want more info.

Hope things settle soon for you.

Cindy

There are "baby monitor" systems available that also have a camera. These transmit sounds and pictures to the receiver by radio frequency (RF). This allows them to transmit through walls well. Also note that any RF signal you can pick up, so can someone else.

There are different concerns for infant/toddlers and teens/tweens.

Sorry to hear about the problems. Sounds scary to me.
