Need creative ideas to just get out and shoot this weekend. Don't just want to shoot random crap around the house. Anyone have any ideas, or themes?

Why dont you go on an "Old Barn" hunt? This is one of the first things that I want to do when I get some time. I love traveling all the small towns along the back roads.

I pick a subject and then do 35 shots of that subject. Pick a color. Or a subject, (arrows, lights, windows, doors, sunglasses etc) then go shoot for an hour or two.

Alphabet hunt...shoot the first picture with an "A" theme..color, subject, location, name...second picture with a "B" theme..great fun and wait till you get to "Q", or "X". Process and post.

Go to the library and get some portfolios of different photographers and painters and spend the weekend studying them. Put the camera aside and see how others saw the world.

Or take Gary Winogrand's advice, "Photography is about finding out what can happen in the frame. When you put four edges around some facts, you change those facts."

I know how you feel. Took a road trip to Weatherford and Granbury today and was only minimally inspired (if at all). I need to go out by myself so I can take my time, think, imagine, and immerse myself in my surroundings.

I cant wait for pumpkin season. I want to take my next fall bride (hoping to God she is a Disney fan) and play with pumpkins, Cinderella slippers, and lots of glitter! I sooooooo cant wait! Doing bridals in the creepy trees has got me on a creative disney princess kick! ;o)

Thanks for the replies. Sometimes you just need to grab your camera and go outside. Just a wandering in my convertible this afternoon...
Wouldn't you know a storm was blowing in.

Enjoy,
Scott

Scott, you didn't tell us you had a convertible! That is always the answer! Just get in the car and drive!!! ( top must be down to get the full effect)
Your attitude changes and you feel uphoric, ideas just jump into the car! If I was having a bad day, my boss would tell me to go take a drive. I always came back smiling!

Had this happen last week; I call it "twitching shutter finger"...posted some results in "nature/wildlife".......in the pasture. It's always amused me how the eye will find, something, that we usually look at all the time but, just never "see" it.
