Hampton Inn RANT RANT RANT RANT

I spent the night Friday at the Hampton Inn in Santa Rosa,NM. I was told no Military discounts this weekend. When I said it was Memorial Day weekend all they said was sorry.. Then I ask for a handicapped room and they said that the shower would spray out onto the floor and I would have to clean it up myself and extra towels would be provided. My wife wanted to stay anyway so we got a room that wasn't handicapped ( for Her ).

It may seem silly to some, but I was really angry about the whole situation and I just want to RANT. Now I have done it and I'M STILL ANGRY..

I'm going to let them know what I think of them for this, and if anyone else wants to, here's a link to email Hampton Inn's customer service department.

(I'm submitting under the category "hotel questions" and asking them if it's a chain-wide policy to not honor the military discount on Memorial Day weekend, or just the one hotel?)

She won't but Conrad Hilton is a pretty good guy - donates millions to charities - and would care.

Paris is only an heiress the fortune.. I don't know that she has any interest in the day to day business.


I love Hampton Inns usually.. and I've stayed at that one.. so this really surprises me. They've always gone the extra bit for us.

This line alone you should send to corporate and CC their competitors. Holiday Inn, Day's Inn et al would have a lot of fun with that one.

Clean up your own shower mess???? WTF? It's YOUR fault their handicap shower has a design flaw?

Not even gonna get into the whole military discount on Memorial Day weekend thing.

I also normally stay at Hampton Inns with no problems...have the frequent flyer mileage....although the last one said their hottub jets weren't working. This is a no-brainer fix-the-same-day thingy to me. I'm paying full price, I want full amenities.

Customer service is becoming more scarce every day. And, as time rolls on, fewer people are concerned with the value of vets. They develop a bit of a 'so what' attitude.

Blow it off. Scream and shout. Jump up and down. Then, sit down next to your wife, hold her hand, and give thanks.

I very rarely see any business giving Military discounts anymore. I used to work at a Hampton Inn. If I remember right, we never did offer a Military discounts at all. The hotels are mostly franchised and that is up to each owner what discounts are given. Also, most hotels will suspend any discounts during peek travel periods, its an industry standard. Think of it like this....do you get a discount when you fly at Christmas???

A discount should be looked at like a gift, not a right.

Now, that being said......they should never have told you that you would have to clean up the shower on your own. Had I been at that front desk, I would have reminded the customer that because of the way the showers are set up, it gets slick and it would be safer to put towels down to prevent slipping.

Call customer service, tell them about your experience and they will most likely give you a free night.
