Circuity City Web Site Returns - 05-26-2009, 09:26 AM

Just a heads up...

Systemax over the weekend re-launched the Circuit City web site, retaining much of the non-defunct retailer's look and feel and offering a full range of consumer electronics products.

The move came after the company -- which also owns the new CompUSA as well as TigerDirect.com -- bought up the Circuit City brand, trademark, web site and other assets in mid-May. The deal also included all of Circuit City's old customer records.

As part of the kickoff, Systemax is offering $1.99, same-day shipping on products purchased from the "new" site and has promised to expand the e-retailer's product selection in the next few months. Perhaps most importantly, the company has also pledged to improve the CircuitCity.com customer service experience with 24/7 availability, addressing one problem area (i.e. customer service) that many credited with the downfall of the original Circuit City.

Hmm.. What about the warranty that I lost when Circuit City went under? I had a two year protection plan with full replacement and had only used not even a year when they closed.

Isn't this somewhat akin to buying the Ford Pinto's name?

Chris, your two year warrantee is thru GE servicing company....it is still valid....but you may want to call the number on the receipt and make sure that your info is there...if not you may be asked to send them a copy of the receipt for verification.....

(No I do not work for Circuit City....Just used too...and talked with a store manager here in Houston before they went under about this very subject.....this is what he told me to do...it worked about two months ago when I called GE up....Good Luck)
