I don't watch it either, but I firmly believe that if Lambert had won, this would be a non-issue. Some people just have to have something to cry and moan about.

They could have given out one phone to a thousand people, and it wouldn't have made a dent... and they didn't have that many phones to give out.

The outcome, in my opinion, was a forgone conclusion when Danny Gokey was eliminated. He had a pretty decent following, and those people were not going to switch to Adam Lambert. So that meant Kris was going to get their votes.

There was 88 million votes cast for the top 3 finalists and of that total only 1 million votes separated the top 2... and 100 million votes were cast for the top 2... I think it's a simple matter of math... and preference of course.

I'm not sure this swayed the outcome or not, but I do think it's pretty unethical for AI's #1 sponsor to go to these fan party's and hand out phones with free texting and show people how to power text.

But at the end of the day, who freakin' cares, I mean it's amarican idol and AI has never been about who's a better singer anyway.
The real test will be who sales the most albums.

If they could do one vote per phone that would be better.
But as of now, if you have 5 crazy die hard fans that will power text and use "Gizmo" you will beat someone with 5000 real fans that only vote once. But then again, what kind of real fan only vote once?

not the first time this show has faced accusations of being fixed, and in some cases they've flat out denied it until it was too late.

My daughter voted 541 times....

I'm not joking.... resend, resend, resend, resend, resend, resend... she wanted Kris to win... obviously...

My friend Lynda.... who btw has a master's degree in accounting... voted 380 times.... for the other guy...

Something is in the water... lol... they are BOTH nuts!

*puts flame suit on*

I'm thinking the type of person who would REALLY want Lambert as the winner, is the type of person who would loudly state their "disappointment."

Lambert was over the top... lol... but you know - he HAS a voice. The guy is a fantastic singer - check this video of him out - in Wicked:

The guy can SING.

But he has an area in his voice - when he hits those upper octaves - that made my skin crawl because it was like 'shrieking' to my ears... a couple of times the judges called him on it, but they were so 'in love' that it was just stupid in my opinion.

A couple of times he sang - I could hear why he was in the lead - he's got a great voice... but I think Kris appealed to a broader audience... and that's what it's all about.

Well put Donna. At first I liked to hear Adam sing but as time went on something about it started to "grate" on me.

Like the old Saturday cartoons which were created solely to sell toys (GI Joe, Transformers, My Pretty Pony....), AI seems to have been created to sell text messages. At 10 cents a pop, that's some healthy revenue.

you have unlimited text? how was the Koolaid......?

I'm force feeding it to my kids... *grin* It tastes great... ;-) At lest that's what I tell myself... My daughter had to write a persuasive paragraph for her school homework.... she wrote it on owning a cell phone.

Adam can DEFINITELY sing, there's no denying that. But, nevertheless I still feel he wasn't the right choice for the #1 spot either. Personally I think Gokey should have taken the win, but that's opinion ;)

Adam's forte is more along the lines of Broadway work. His vocal character, his image, personality, and stage presence are very well suited to this line of work. I believe he would (will) be absolutely brilliant in large stage productions.
