A little airline information for those who travel - 05-28-2009, 10:38 PM

I came back from Carlsbad, New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon----flying out of Midland, TX traveling to Shreveport, LA. On arrival at the Midland airport, I tried to check in with the American Airlines ticket counter. The agent told me that their computers were down and he could not pull up my information, so he asked me to use the ticket kiosk. I scanned my credit card, the kiosk identified me, and I confirmed my ticket information and 1 checked bag (at an extra charge of $15). The kiosk printed out my boarding pass from Midland to Dallas, as well as one for Dallas to Shreveport. However, the kiosk did not provide a receipt for the checked bag. I asked the ticket agent and he said, "are you sure the kiosk did not print out a receipt for you?" I assured him that it did not print out a receipt and he must have believed me-----because he checked both of the kiosks while I stood there watching him!!!! I relayed to him that I had checked the kiosk before asking him about a receipt. He told me that I would need to contact American Airlines Customer Service to get a receipt----because his computer was down. "No problem", I responded ignorantly. I contacted American Airlines "Customer Support"----a.k.a "The get-me-p.o.ed crew". The representative told me that in order to get a copy of the receipt, I would have to pay a $15 fee. O.K., I am trying to get reimbursed $15 from my company for the baggage fee, but I have to pay $15 dollars for a receipt----I am no financial genius, but I am not an idiot either. I calmly (not really) explained the idiotic thought that someone would pay $15 for a receipt to get reimbursed for $15. The representative then told me that since it was American's fault (due to the ticket agent's computer being down) that a receipt was not given to me, that I could fill out a complaint form and mail it in, then maybe they would waive the $15 fee. I am pretty anal about having all of my receipts for reimbursement from the company for travel expenses, but this one will just have to go through without the attached receipt. I just wanted a stinkin' receipt!!!!!

Next time I will not leave the counter until someone (ticket agent, janitor, security guard, total stranger, arresting police officer) gives me a receipt.

LOL...thats why I fly Continental....but they are getting bad too....when I came back from Hong Kong...my bag did not get to Houston with me.....I went to the customer service person near baggage claim...she asked me for my name the tag number....then told me my bag went to LA....I said great...when will I get it back....(since the trip was over I really did not care)...she told me in 24 to 48 hours...I asked how would I get it....the customer service rep...with a strait face...stated someone in LA will pick-up my bag and process it for return once done...he/she will take it to the appropriate flight if one is available and put the bag on the plane...once it has made it back to Houston...a customer service person will receipt the bag and contact me....(I stated that is all good...however, whom will return my bag to me...I asked again)...the lady at the counter started telling me the whole story again....(I tried so hard not to laugh...)
after sitting thru all that...she asked...would you like to pick-it-up or have us Fed-Ex it to you.....I did not have the heart to tell her that is what I was trying to ask...

Sorry for the long post....
