Needing photographer interviews! - 05-29-2009, 01:36 PM

I've recently been brought on to www.examiner.com to be a "Photo Technology Examiner". In short, I'll search the web for all of the latest photography news from different sources and bring them to one convenient spot on the web, probably on a weekly basis.

But, ive also got free reign to do my own stories and topics aside from the Tech side.

One thing i'd like to do is to have a weekly "local photographer spotlight" column, where i interview different photographers, from semi-pro to full on professional. It would be a very informal, Q&A type interview, probably conducted through something like email or a messenger service, with basic questions like gear list, specialization (if any), favorite locations, tips for someone trying improve their photography, etc.

Basically, I thought it might be a cool way to get your name out there and promote your website, blog, or anything else you'd like to plug, to try and get some more business coming in.

Im also going to try to do a weekly or bi-weekly National photographer spotlight that will run at the same time (not replacing a local in other words) that will be a similar interview with a big name in the photographey world. I havent yet spoken to any of them, but im hoping that with an easy email form Q&A they wouldnt mind taking a few mins to fill it out and get a few plugs in. We'll see how that goes...

If you think you might be up for letting me grill you with all of the hard questions (or not so hard) shoot me a PM, or even just reply here. I'll start putting a list together with the names of the willing participants and get back to you for the interview hopefully soon after.

If you have any suggestions, or other things that you'd like to see in my column, feel free to say so. This will be a learning experience for me as well, and i hope you guys/gals can help me out along the way and i'll try to help you guys out by plugging your sites and trying to send views your way.

Thank you very much for any input!

Brad

Edit: if you can think of any specific questions you would like to be asked, please let me know as well. Thanks again.

Update: Already landed two HUGE name national photogs for audio interviews. First one is set to record next week! Now, if only i could figure out the recording process.....
