Data Recovery Software - 05-29-2009, 03:25 PM

I have complete hard drive failure and I would love to know if there is a software that can recover files on my memory card from my most recent shoot?

Does anyone know of such a software?

Can't you copy them to another computer, then burn a dvd?
Just my first thought.

Check out this program on CNET's Download.Com. It's free.

I haven't tried it but it looks good.

I had a hard drive that the partion table screwed up, and I used Zero Assumption Recovery (http://www.z-a-recovery.com) with excellent results. Also works to recover files from corrupted flash cards.

If you have a PPA membership you can send it out to have it recovered. I think it was free or cheap. I had a drive eat itself up a while back and the backups were corrupted. It was a mess. Just a suggestion. PPA ROCKS!

Yes - recuva works great. It'll pull files a couple of layers deep.

OOPS! I tried the program I suggested and it doesn't work on my cards because they are not NTFS format.

Sorry for the eroneous info.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I will try the programs suggested. I have already sent the drive off for repair. I am evaluating my other possibly less expensive option.

Free...Really, I will call the ppa, but I called the company they use Drive Savers and was quote somewhere in the neighborhood of $2700 for a full recovery.
