memory cards - 06-01-2009, 07:56 AM

I just bought 16GB Kingston 133x from Frys this weekend for $32.00. Ironically I was reading an old PCP mag from Jan. 2008 and saw the same card for $308 when it first came on the market!

Good things comes to those who wait right.

Be careful with those cards, I've trashed three 8 gb Kingston that I bought from Fry's. They would all take about 4 or 5 images and then say; "cannot read card" so I'd have to re-format. There was another post about these on here somewhere and I believe several others were having similar issures.

I just got a 4gb Kingston 133x from Fry's. It is slower than molasses in January on reading. No errors however and I've used it quite a bit (and will keep it).

No issues on writing to the card, but reviewing/playback are incredibly slow. Not a good choice if you need to chimp.

I bought one 4gb a cpl weeks ago. Had issues on one computer reading all the files, and no issues on another machine. Same reader on both. I wont use the card if I want to be sure I have the shot. And I dont take the picture if I dont want the shot. So....................... I will use it for taking photos of the pets :)

Most of my cards are SanDisk, maybe a Lexar or two. Somebody suggested on another thread some time ago that most cards were made in the same factory despite the branding; either way, I've never had a problem with my cards (knock, knock).
