Progress (and fear) - 06-03-2009, 02:27 PM

As some of you know I am in the process of having a new home built for me. After the problems with a builder packing up and moving out of the area I wanted to build, it was back to square one. Well, here is the progress. I'm finally seeing my house take shape!

(the fear, of course is me watching the mortgage rates keep creeping up and up and up... I'm all for an economic recovery, but not until I get further along in the build process and can lock in a decent rate!)

Forgive the photos, these were all with a camera phone...

why can't you lock in the rate now? It's only going to go up.

I'm still too far out from closing. I can get a 60 lock, or pay an extra 0.125 for a 90 day lock, but I'm still about 100 days from being ready to close.

Take lots of pics of the plumbing and wiring before the sheet rock goes up. You'll have use for them at some point in the future when you need to know what wire or pipe goes where. I wish I had taken more when we built.
