Well folks, I did a terrible thing last week. I spilled a beer. As if wasting one of the best beers out there (Real Ale Devil's Backbone) wasn't bad enough, I happened to spill about the final quarter of a pint into my 15" MacBook Pro. The MBP couldn't handle its booze.
As luck would have it, I liked the beer - and the complimentary Real Ale Fireman's 4 glass (it was pint-glass night, as Mondays are, at The Ginger Man in Austin) - and took a photo of it before I did the unthinkable.
If you do not backup religiously, you should. Had I not had a backup, I'd have lost final photos from two different weddings. All of this prompted me to spring for a 24" iMac on which my business work would remain relatively safe from such incidents. With the announcement of 13" MacBook Pros I may end up getting one of those soonish and transplanting the dead 15"'s 320GB drive and 4GB of RAM. I don't need discrete graphics for the work I do, and the 13" is a better fit for portability than the 15" or the 17".
