Okay, I have an idea.

Personally, im tired of hearing people enforce non-existant rules against photographers. So, im feeling adventurous.

Lets start a list of everywhere (houston area, sorry DFW) that you have been asked to leave or to stop taking pictures there.

And I will go and take a picture there.

Some places that I know of off hand are the AnaDarko Tower (woodlands) and the borders parking garage (woodlands). I know there are MANY other places.

Do you mean the woodlands Pavilion? Also, if you know it, a cross street will help.

Were you outside or inside the shopping mall? Who was it that chased you away, a rent a cop?
If your inside the mall, they can ask you to leave, but if your outside they cant touch you.

Well, that's a bummer. I was going to say shooting things in Dallas is so tough that I was told to go to Houston.

I have never been chased away on public property/ROWs, but I have a friend that was harassed by security at One Houston Center.

And don't forget a copy of this:

We were outside as it is on the street. Since it is private property, security told us to go away and walked with us until we were 2-3 blocks away from the property. We were not inside just along Fannin under the new halo.

Most of the places you named are actually private property arent they? I know they can not stop you from photographing from the pubic space, ( ie: across the street) but they can stop you by asking you to leave their private property?

Exactly. They can ask you to leave the property, but if you are on Public Right Of Way, they cant touch you.

...not always.

Remember: a parking lot for a privately-owned facility is still private property. And standing in the (altho public) street isn't normally a good idea.

If you want inquisitions, spend a day ON PUBLIC PROPERTY adjacent to RR tracks with a really big camera in plain sight. More of the inquisitors however will be Joe Public or rentacops, not real police.

Correct. You can. It is what you can do with it after you take it, that they can restrict.
