After I clicked the "Live Chat" button on B&H's page to initiate a chat session, the following occurred. I think I scared the guy....

Yossi O: how may I assist you?

Marv: Hi, I am in need of a canon 16-35 F/2.8 L II, I am a loyal B&H customer, but you are out of stock and I would rather buy from you as opposed to Adorama

Yossi O: we hope to be receiving more soon, unfortunately Canon has not provided us with a delivery date for our next shipment

Yossi O: we do not know when they will be arriving next

Yossi O: we can accept a backorder for the lens via telephone, the next time we receive shipment, your order would be fulfilled

Yossi O: your card would be charged at the time you place your order

Marv: no idea of a timeframe at all? I really really need this lens

Marv: If I dont get one soon, ill be in serious trouble :(

Yossi O: I am sorry, Canon has not specified a date, I have no means of confirming or even estimating when we will receive it

Marv: Wow, seems like a lot of glass is running out lately

Marv: :(

Yossi O: yes, its unfortunate

Marv: ok

Marv: i understand

Marv: im really sorry, but I have to order it from Adorama

Marv: ive never ordered from them, are they a shady operation?

Marv: I feel like i'm cheating on my girlfriend or something :(

Yossi O: they are a reputable operation

Marv: I really love you guys

Yossi O: we appreciate your business, its Canon's fault ultimately

Yossi O: we cant sell what they wont stock

Marv: Oh, dont get me wrong. Im not blaming you guys at all

Yossi O: we understand

Marv: My girlfriend thinks I love you guys more than I love her

Marv: She might be right

Yossi O: thats classic

Yossi O: thank you

Marv: Come on, arent a lot of us addicted to glass?

Yossi O: yes we are

Marv: You guys are always there for me, never nag me, always honest

Marv: would never cheat on me

Marv: If you sold wives, id buy one immediately

Marv: I always try to do at least one altruistic deed a day

Yossi O: thats all one can ask

Yossi O: I wish we had the lens to sell to you today

Marv: and any super-secret canon info around the corner?

Marv: Like a 24-70 f/2.8 L II Image Stabilized?

Yossi O: believe it or not manufacturers do not share any inside info with us, mainly to protect sales on current products

Marv: Id be a personal slave to Canon if they would only come out w/ that lens in IS

Yossi O: we learn of new products when you do
Marv: gotcha

Marv: i hope to visit your store this summer when I come to NYC

Marv: to me, the B&H store would be like Mecca

Yossi O: clear your day for the visit

Marv: is it as awesome as I dream it to be?

Marv: Will i wander the aisles for hours?

Yossi O: yes you will

Yossi O: we will likely have to ask you to leave at closing time

Marv: that must happen often

Yossi O: its like Willy Wonkas factory for photogs

Marv: ill bring handcuffs and chain myself to a Canon display

Yossi O: im sure our security team has a spare handcuff key

Marv: dangit

Marv: ill stage a 1 man hunger strike in front of a display of Canon Full Frame bodies

Marv: I will kneel before the 1200 f/5.6

Marv: i cant believe you actually have that in stock

Yossi O: it can be your for a pretty penny

Marv: do you have it on display?

Yossi O: I do not know honestly, I believe it was on display for a period in our Used Dept, but I do not know

Yossi O: its been a while since I have been into the storefront

Marv: OK,

Marv: l have an idea

Marv: 120k for it, right?

Yossi O: that sounds about right

Marv: that works out to $20 a month for 500 years

Marv: I'll pay you $30 a month for the next 700 years

Marv: deal?

Yossi O: I think 500/month for 20 years is a bit more of a deal, but I am not in a position to negotiate that one

Marv: lol

Marv: thats insane

Marv: the funny part is

Yossi O: you need to purchase a Sherpa if you purchase the lens

Marv: you guys say this on the lens's page:

Marv: "Businesses: Lease from $4,068/mo "

Marv: Bwahaaha!

Yossi O: that is funny

Marv: Thats more than my car and home payment

Yossi O: thats chump change

Marv: heh

Marv: im sorry yossi

Marv: I feel so cheap

Marv: so dirty

Marv: i just ordered from Adorama

Yossi O: enjoy

Marv: I feel like I need to take a shower

Marv: so

Marv: there are so many shady camera dealers in NY/NJ

Yossi O: Adorama is a good firm

Marv: OK

Marv: im trusting you

Marv: but honestly

Yossi O: you can always checkout any questionable vendor at www.resellerratings.com

Marv: could you say otherwise if you didnt think they were?

Yossi O: with a shady store I have my way of tactfully warning you

Yossi O: But I will say good things in general about Adorama

Marv: so someplace like ShadyBackstreetDigitalCameraKingsof23rdAveNYC.com?

Marv: Adorama is your biggest competitor?

Yossi O: havent heard of them, but yeah, on resellerratings.com you will see reviews on most all web stores and experiences customers have had with them

Yossi O: they are a close competitor, we are a much larger operation (when you come to NYC, stop there first, and then come to B&H and you will see a behemoth of a store

Marv: B&H is the reference standard by which all companies should be judged against

Yossi O: thank you Marv

Marv: heh.. even if you do put a dent in my bank account the size of Arizona

Marv: ok

Marv: i know you're busy

Marv: thanks for your time Yossi!

Yossi, probably did the same thing you did to all his buddies...

Copied the chat and emailed it off....!!! Now they will probably know you..not because...of everything that transpired...but because it will be used in training...how to treat the wierdo customers....Yossi's, probably going to get a star for this one...!!!

That was STELLAR!!! My husband runs a call center and gets the 'worst of the worst' callers.... he does things like this when he calls other CS centers, just because he knows how much it's a "bright" spot in their day....

I read this to him and we both cracked up.... glad you posted this!! :)
