72 year old woman Tased in Texas.... - 06-10-2009, 09:34 AM

Just saw this on the Today show this morning....it's already made national news!! My question is...do you think the woman deserved to be tased? Did she push the officer to the point where he had no other choice??? Or, should he have handled it differently?? Here's the link to the video..... http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-taser-...,0,52843.story

When she decided to move back toward the lane of traffic before the traffic stop had been concluded, the officer did what he was trained to do and prevented her from returning to the road by the most expedient method at his command...The national news mouths would doubtless rather she had been turned into roadkill by passing traffic...The officer may have saved her life...Ben

Well, and the woman had an attitude from the time he pulled her over....she just kept on with the "72 year old woman " issue and kept pushing and challenging like she wanted to see what he would do.

If this is going to turn into another cop bashing post...we might as well end this thread now. As we've seen recently in other threads, most people are very opinionated on these type of topics and so far, I don't think anyone's opinion was changed during the course of the thread. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree.

I did not put it up for cop bashing. I have no problem if they want to remove the thread, actually I was feeling badly for the cop, it just seemed like the woman had an attitude from the time she was pulled over and just kept on pushing him. No problem though if they want to remove the thread.

I feel bad that I laughed a little when I watched that video.
Normally I don't enjoy seeing old ladies get tased.

I refer to Tasers as Agonizers, aka the "Mirror, Mirror" Star Trek episode, as I believe that's what they've become.

The officer made his choice. She had no weapons except her big mouth and he felt he had to tase her.

Now he gets to live the rest of life knowing (and knowing that everyone else knows) that he tased a 72 year old woman.

I'd say the officer will end up with the worst part of this deal.

It's a shame that the only video's of police officers we see these days are these guys.

Man....you'd think at 72 yrs old she'd know by now that you don't argue with cops.

I hope I'm not that cranky when I'm 72....and hope I don't rely on the 'I'm 72' card...

Yup...it'd be nice to see these guys when they're busting their butts saving people, etc...

Watch Hot Pursuit on TruTV (Channel 67 here). They did a marathon and sometimes I am amazed with their patience and how many people they probably should taze/shoot.
